They can grow indefinitely, and live for 100 years. Look at the molt from 2 cycles ago, she's basically twice the size now! And she weights 8 lbs, the lobster from grocery store is typically 1 lb.
NC Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh has a female lobster that was rescued 10 years ago in 2013, since then, she has grown from 1 lb to 8 lbs. According to our guide, Sofia, at the live feeding, these fascinating creatures grow exponentially.
As a right-handed Maine lobster, her right claw is the crushing claw, and the left one is the cutting claw. She use the right claw to crack the clams open, and the left one to cut the shrimps in half.
She gets fed shrimps and clams in the dropped green cage 3 times a week, you can find the time here. I guess cold blooded animals like her doesn't need much energy to survive because they don't need to keep the body warm, and their brains consume a lower % of energy.
Sofia also showed us the molt from 2 cycles ago (~2 years ago). It looked white-ish with a little bit of pink. And it was comically smaller than she is now.
