Should You Filter Your Words Before You Speak?

If you don't, everyone will hate you. If you use heavy filters for everything you say, you'd be seen as dull and dead boring.
I hate overfiltering or speaking in a very careful way, because I want to speak my mind as long as I think it doesn't offend / hurt people.
I lower my filters when talking to people close to me.
Some of the reasons include:
- I feel comfortable and I worry less about offending them
- They like me
- Lowering my filter shows them that I feel close to them and comfortable with them
At least one time I got emotional and said things that made a lot of sense in my then emotional brain, but could be interpreted in awful ways, ways that I didn't mean at all.
filtered
i filter my words
because not filtering caused me great loss
i hurt people when I had no intention to
and I felt awful
Treating conversations as information exchange will make you look so boring, as does too much filtering.
I shouldn't be afraid to share my opinion, or push back something I want to say just because it's not that perfect.
