I visited the Museum of History again! But this time, I treated it as a window shopping only vintage store.

Table of Contents

Clothing

My focus was on the collars, the lapels (and lapel pins / boutonnieres), the layering (3-piece suits, waistcoats), and the neck wear.

Back in time, even the poor working class people doing physical labor dressed well - I remember an old picture in NCMH showing black construction workers in white dress shirts. And check out the farmer below!

A stylish farmer in 3-piece suit | Why did they stop?

I know sport jackets were originally designed for doing sports (hunting etc), but that was in the England and farming is not considered an upper class activity, so I was surprised that farmers looked like this (wearing something more formal than a sport coat) back then in NC. I don't think they wore this all the time though.

Lapels

I didn't see any peak lapels in the musuem. I personally like them more than notch lapels.

Ascot (Cravat)

Woman (right most) wearing Ascot | 3F West

Yes, they're super stylish, and it's a shame some Redditors think it's too eccentric or it's putting on a custume.

Military Uniforms

I learned that many classic menswear items (such as the double-breasted navy blazer) drew inspiration from military uniforms. Even the word navy as a color comes from the British Royal Navy's iconic dark blue uniforms.

During this visit, I was surprised to see so many colored sculptures wearing the Mandarin collar and boots with open lacing systems that look like derbies.

Footwear

Cap-toe derby-like boots for the navy?

Women

They helped feed the soldiers and treat the wounded during the war(s).

They fed | She looks great in the Flag, the design is good, and the outfit doesn't scream nationality.
Girls in trench coats and hats, wow!

Vintage Shops

I love these shops.

Vintage Gun Shop | 3F NC A-Z
Vintage Bar (Cola also served here) / Store | 3F NC A-Z

Vintage Machinary

An Old Tractor

Hollywood East

IDK Why they used the Iron Man poster, was it filmed in NC?

A friend told me that Hunger Games was filmed in WNC, District 12 was filmed in some rural town, and the arena / waterfall / forests were in a state forest near Asheville.

I was surprised to learn that, but the emptyness of District 12 and the humble houses do feel like NC.

First in Flight

First in Flight is on ~50% of car plates in NC. IIRC The Wright Brothers tested their plane in Outer Banks, and there's a memorial thing in Kill Devil Hills (I actually met someone from this place).
