ncleg / NC General Assembly (https://www.ncleg.gov/) is a cool building that reminds me of Kuala Lumpur (the National Mosque) from the outside, and inside it's all gold. Everything is golden.

The KL vibe

Golden

I learned later it's just brass, but it's okay. Some people hate it though.
Fayetteville St & the cop car
I've been curious about it for quite some time, it's the building I see every time I went to NCMNS. There's always an empty NCGA cop car in front of it, making the bike racks across the street an attractive place to lock their bikes.

So I looked it up, turns out that anyone can go in without an ID, so here I am. :)

Security check is... casual. The guards are very friendly.
The domes, chandeliers, and plantation
There are 3 floors in total, these fancy stairs will get you to the 3rd floor.

The central dome and chandeliers. And plantation.
On 3rd floor there was a tour for elementary students, the guide talked about how laws are passed, explained veto
& table
. She also mentioned the example of the state vegetable, which, surprisingly, is sweet potato.

State Seals
State seals everywhere. My favorite one is the one on the marble in front of the building.

Look at the braids on the 4th image. I love the attention to details. It's beautiful.
Terrace
Roof access from 3rd floor, where you have a nice view of NCMNS-SECU with the big globe, Fayetteville St, and the Capitol building. Looking north there's the Halifax Mall. I wonder why it's called that, but I like it.

The terrace
And these 3 flags are the 2nd largest I've seen, only after the one in San Ysidro.

Offices
Many offices have the door open and you can see people working inside.
On the walls:

Cafe (Nicknamed "IKEA of Raleigh")
I call this place The IKEA (Cafe) of Raleigh
(menu).
So what do NC law makers eat for lunch when they don't want to go out of the building?

Thanks for spelling my name almost right! At least it's not Detty :) | The food is okay. The steak is mediocre. I like the salad and the mashed potatoes.

I was the only one without a structured jacket / dress shirt at the cafe. | The ncleg building is a maze, and very few people know there's a IKEA down the basement. I had to ask several people to find my way.
I like the diced pineapples and sliced jalapenos at the salad bar.
And it's really cheap! I'm treating it like IKEA and I enjoy not having to make healthy salads myself.

Next Steps?
The court houses, city council meetings are on my list.
I've always wanted to attend court hearings in person to experience the rule of law.
Update: It's now done! See Inside Courtrooms.
