I went to BSides RDU in 2023, a cyber security conference, where I met Patrick McNeil, a physical pentester, who organizes Oak City Locksport and maintains the OCL Wiki. Before that I was already a fan of the Lock Picking Lawyer on YouTube.
As a hacker, I'm facsinated by the idea of exploiting software and hardware vulnerabilities, and lock picking is a popular sport for the latter.
I went to OCL's June meeting at Raleigh Brewing Co. and Patrick taught me the trade!
I also learned about his NFC implants, using Flipper Zero to clone passes and bypass hotel tv restrictions, and he showed me how to exploit the known (but won't fix) vulnerability of Master Locks.
It's all fascinating to me.
