I felt like I was in The Big Bang Theory or Stranger Things. The place is BBT-comic-book-store-themed. And the DM is like Sheldon to some extend.

Table of Contents
  • DM, the Dungeon Master, doesn't get paid for doing this - he's just a fan of the game. The venue is free to use, even rule books, character sheets and pencils are provided for free. The game lounge only charges for food and drinks. People just sign up on Meetup or Discord and come. The Go Club is hosted at the same place, but on Mondays.
I went to a murder mystery game in Shanghai and it was expensive.
  • We built our characters before game can start. I was Sophie, an elf wizard that got bored and decided to join the adventure. Since this step is too complicated, I just use the D&D Beyond app and use the elf wizard preset, without configuring 200 options on my own.
  • I met my 3 other teammates (a cleric, a dwarf and a human? I guess) at a bar, DM let us interact with each other. The cleric was reading some weird newspaper, and I think I rolled a dice and got better Insight and was able to read the arcane runes from somewhere.
  • I'm not sure how the DM decided to move forward. DM controls all other characters not played by us. Each round we chose what to do (where to move, and what skill to use, where and how to use it) and roll the dice to decide if it's a hit or miss, the damage and the effect etc.
  • We beat most of the enimies, save 1 out of 3 chickens, and I'm not sure what happened to the cat ear lady.
  • I leveled up from lv1 to 2.
  • The food and drinks at the game lounge looked really delicious.
  • There were a lot more females than I expected.
  • The first game went on for 150 minutes and I did got bored. Playing DM seems more fun. I have little control of the game.
  • I'm still clueless about the rules, all the +2 +3, and 1000 properties of the characters.

I picked the eagle piece from the start, but it was too large for the board so I had to use another piece in the game.

I love these dice!
