Fascinated by Persia

Persia AKA Iran is a regional superpower by the Caspian Sea. ~90 million people, and expected to go over 100 million by 2050. It connects Turkey to the NW and neighbors quite a lot of countries known for oil reserve and production (itself included).

Why learning these?

• My friend is from Iran
• It's fun and there's so much I didn't know

Nowruz (Persian New Year)

Nowruz is the new year, and it's even later (March) than the lunar one (Feb in Gregorian).

I went to the Nowruz event at NCSU where people shook hands while saying salam and happy new year. I had to leave very early and missed the food because of a class :(.

Tehran is the capital and largest city. The mountains surrounding the city are extremely beautiful.
