The Schedule

TFest schedule

directorTALK

By Mia Self.

My take away:

  • Director should try to figure out what the writer tries to convey, and pass that on to the audience.
  • Rehearsals are for failure. Rehearsal so hard that you fail, but the actors are resilient and they'll do the job on the stage.

Backstage (stageCRAFT)

CNC machines, control room for the theatres. People in the control room are: fire watch (smoke alarms disabled since the show involves artificial smoke) that walked around every 15 min, supertitle controller, effect controller, and stage manager.

The backstage / scene shop
Control room for the Ghost of the Splinter Cove play
Secret corridors
Knit drawing

Costume Shop

I spent most of my time of all the sub-events here.

Laura Parker: We're historian of some sort.

She talks about how the costumes are designed for each show, sourcing of materials and making them.

LP's sketches - she checked with the directors before commited to making them | Vintage patterns | English style frock coat

My favorite sketch
Crab arm from the SpongeBob Musical made with lightweight foam

Actors, staff and writer from The Great Beyond play. Yes I went to that show.

One of the actoresses broke her leg when the show's still on going, and they talked about how it was handled. Luckily, being able to walk wasn't a hard requirement for her role. :) She'll recover shortly after the show stop running.

Voice Workshop

Also by Mia Self. Since I've been to the same workshop before, I left earlier.
